Today, a government delegation visited Kibisi Gardens where our model farm is located.
The delegation was led by the Deputy County Commissioner in charge of Tongaren subcounty.
We had over 15 chiefs, their assistants and the new Member of County Assembly in attendance among others. We shared our activities in the area and they were very appreciative of the great impact in the community. The Commissioner was grateful to Core Health and Wealth International and her partners for the great support in empowering the community. He hopes that some of the initiatives (trainings) can be scaled up to cover more wards in the area. The chiefs were similarly impressed with the rapid economic growth in the community.
With the work in Tongaren, Bungoma, we focus on empowering the people through creation of a positive open minded movement among the farmer families and sharing structures of systemic change. Several women in the community were trained in basketry, tailoring, knitting, tapestry, kikoys and soap productions. The government delegation were short of words to describe how amazing and standard the products are. To promote our women, atleast everyone of them walked home with a number of items.
