Core Education
- Our Pillars
- Core Education
The Mantra, ‘my people perish for lack of knowledge,’ is true especially in developing nations. Poverty, ignorance and disease are responsible for the impoverishment of many lives especially in rural Africa. It is this that has driven Core Health and Wealth International to have Education as one of its Pillars. We are not just focusing on the numeracy and literacy education but we are focusing all facets of education. We are focusing on the informal education that entails family improvement education, adult productivity education and rural development.
In addition, we work towards ensuring access to education by all by addressing the barriers to quality education.
Projects
- Launched a scholarship program to support children from needy households. In 2021, we have supported 19 by paying for their fees and provided other shopping needs
- CoreHW in partnership with Kijabe Mission hospital has provided wheelchairs to 40 learners to facilitate their movement to schools
- Another 18 learners have been provided with optical support by providing eyeglasses and corrective surgery to ensure they can read as well as their colleagues.
- CoreHW runs a NextGen Mentorship program in high schools and has so far reached over 5,000 students in Mbakalo ward. This initiative seeks to develop life skills and help the young learners to overcome the societal challenges like drug and alcohol abuse, premarital sex leading to STI and teenage pregnancies. In addition, this program is building the needed leadership skills and is promoting ethical and value based leadership.
- CoreHW is partnering with Nesting Play from Hungary to help address the needs of early childhood and learners with special needs.
- Critical need identified is the need to improve the education infrastructure in order to facilitate quality access to education and avail equal competitive opportunities to learners in low income setting. We are partnering to improve learning facilities.
